What Does a Week at Caribou Falls Lodge Look Like?
How many days you choose to fish with us is fully customizable, but the following offers a look into one of our most common packages — 7 nights, 6 days on the English River. Consider this a helpful starting point; your time at Caribou Falls Lodge is ultimately yours to shape.
A sample 7-day itinerary:
Day 1
Arrive & Get Oriented
Drive in and get settled into your cabin — the lodge is about 70 miles north of Kenora on the English River. Check-in is anytime between 12 and 6 pm.
Check in with your host, Caribou Falls Lodge owner Edward, and get your fishing licenses, a boat orientation, and an overview of the surrounding English River system.
Hit the water! If you're on the American Plan, just be sure to be back in time for the 6 pm dinner service.
Days 4-6
Explore the English River
Take the boat further upriver to explore new water and find your own favourite spots on the English River system.
Catch enough walleye and pike to make your own shore lunch at one of the designated fire circles along the river — the kitchen will send you off in the morning with everything you need.
After an afternoon on the water, return to the lodge for a home-cooked dinner at 6 pm, available to American Plan guests.
After dinner, head back out for an evening walleye jigging session during prime dusk feeding time, or unwind in the lodge with the pool table, bar, and entertainment area.
Day 2
Guided Walleye fishing on the English River
Meet your guide — a guided first day on the water is a great way to learn the best spots for walleye and northern pike on the English River.
Target walleye with jigs and live bait in the river channels below the Caribou Falls dam.
The English River system, including Tetu Lake, is teeming with walleye, northern pike, muskellunge, smallmouth bass, perch, and whitefish.
Keep a few walleye for your shore lunch — your guide will handle the rest.
Day 7
Final morning & depart
After breakfast at 7 am (American Plan guests), get one last morning fishing session in before heading out of camp.
Pack up, clean your gear, and share stories with the guides.
Head home with lasting memories — and a cooler full of fillets.
Day 3
Target Northern Pike on the English River
Head out into the numerous weedy bays, islands, and miles of deep, cool, moving water that make the English River system prime northern pike habitat.
Cast large spoons and swimbaits along weed edges and rocky points.
Fish in the 35"+ range are caught by guests every week — the English River delivers consistently.
